Lately, ten-year-old Cheng-Cheng has been acting strangely.

He no longer talks about baseball, and keeps his distance from the field—the place he once loved now feels like a boundary he can’t cross.

His mother notices something is off, but can't pinpoint why. She tries to stay close, offering quiet companionship.

The fear and confusion Cheng-Cheng carries come from someone he once trusted completely.

It clings to him like red dirt: no matter how hard he tries, he can’t seem to brush it off.

He doesn’t know if speaking up would mean losing something—or someone.

He isn’t even sure if he has the right to feel angry about what happened.

Until one evening, he finds himself alone at the edge of the field, staring down at a baseball bat.

This time, he knows the choice is his to make—whether to swing, or not.

The Brave Swing tells the story of a boy slowly approaching his own voice, in the quiet space between silence and understanding.
