Rong-Chen is a struggling member of the recorder team. After repeated mistakes during rehearsal, her teacher warns that she may not be allowed to join the upcoming performance. One afternoon, she meets Shao-Yu, a classmate who has just told the teacher he must quit the team because of his weak lung capacity. Admiring his playing, Rong-Chen asks for help. Shao-Yu hesitates, but offers a few suggestions — suggestions that turn into lessons, and lessons that turn into days of shared practice and laughter. As Rong-Chen’s music slowly takes shape, she begins to sense that Shao-Yu’s reason for quitting may not be what it seems.
